One very important part of victory in spiritual warfare is prayer, and nothing makes prayer more powerful than a sense of urgency and need.
In verse 16 he goes on to tell us that "By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness." In other words, we all know that godliness boggles the mind, when we stop to think about it. How in the world have I been made righteous enough to stand before the God that is said to be a consuming fire?
A saving knowledge of Jesus Christ begins with the forgiveness of sins through repentance (a turning away from those sins), and faith in Him alone.
If knowing Jesus is not intensely personal then you do not know Jesus at all. If knowing Jesus does not dis-annul all other things as a mean of getting to heaven, then you do not know Jesus at all. If knowing Jesus does not make the way to heaven cleknowing_jesusar, then you do not know Jesus at all. If knowing Jesus does not reveal empty religion for what it is - empty, then you do not know Jesus at all.
Do not fall into the trap of modern teachers who disguise their hypocritical disobedience with flowery words of "love", while all the time blaspheming the Word of God that is blessed forever, amen.
To live up to basic morality is one thing, but to live up to the standards that Jesus sets forth is an entirely different matter. It's one thing to be nice and still another to turn the other cheek, go the extra mile, or give someone your shirt when he takes your coat.
The Calvary Road is the way least traveled, and yet is the only one filled with true joy, peace, and contentment.
