Every once in a while a story comes along that speaks to the plight of man on multiple levels, and such is the case with the movie PASSENGERS.
Man in his sinful condition could never merit heaven anymore than he could create himself. It is only man's sinful pride that tells him something different.
In verse 16 he goes on to tell us that "By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness." In other words, we all know that godliness boggles the mind, when we stop to think about it. How in the world have I been made righteous enough to stand before the God that is said to be a consuming fire?

To fail to love God through obedience is to be cut off from His power and thereby forfeit His peace and joy.
To live up to basic morality is one thing, but to live up to the standards that Jesus sets forth is an entirely different matter. It's one thing to be nice and still another to turn the other cheek, go the extra mile, or give someone your shirt when he takes your coat.
The first relationship, which should greatly surpass all others is the relationship we have with our God. Furthermore, the relationships we have with others should supercede every other goal we set.
What could be more relevant that where we spend eternity.
